What to Expect Thursday, Friday & Saturday Your three day break will be one of action and participation. Groups are kept to no more than four participants, as this ensures full involvement and promotes a friendly and informal atmosphere.
You will be given a hawk or falcon for the duration of your stay with us and we will take you through
the four stages of training birds of prey : manning, training, fitness and hunting. Other relevant
aspects of falconry will be covered, including diet, weight control, health, imping feathers, coping
beaks and general bird husbandry.
We will explain the various pieces of equipment used by falconers and some of the legal aspects surrounding our sport. To watch a falconer's bird of prey in action may be thrilling but to fly such a bird yourself is an encounter without equal. The feel of a hawk on your fist and the excitement as it launches into flight is a spellbinding experience. All our hawks are selected for their amiable nature and specially trained to allow them to be handled, under supervision, by a novice falconer. We supply all specialist equipment, four wheel drive transport, refreshments and accommodation - however, don't forget your camera!
Depart Sunday Clothing Warm, waterproof clothing is advisable and suitable footwear such as wellingtons or walking boots are essential. Please Note Places on the Three Day Falconry and Hawking Breaks are limited so an early booking is strongly recommended. |
